RAR PONCHO CAL: PART 6

Hi there Zooty Owl CAL-ers and welcome to Part 6 of the Rainbows Over the Rain Poncho CAL.   This week we will be crocheting the neckline and completing our Ponchos.

NECKLINE

PATTERN TERMS:    US

YARN:  Elle Charity Chunky (12 ply).   Stylecraft Special Chunky is an excellent quality / great value alternative yarn.

HOOK SIZE:  5.50mm (I/9 US or 5 CANADIAN)

NOTE:  The final measurements of the poncho if you have worked according to the layout is 82cm (neck to front / back bottom point;   armspan 110cm.

COLOURWAY:   Each crocheter may choose his / her own colour layout - colour changes / breaks are suggestions only.

IMPORTANT:  Read through pattern before starting to crochet. 
 
Neck Border:  Worked in the round with right side facing throughout.  There are 2 “Intersecting Joins” one at the front and one at the back.  There are 2 “Side Panels” one on the left and one on the right.

Round 1:  Join yarn with a standing dc in any dc on Side Panel.  1dc into each dc along every st on both Side Panels.  When reaching the two intersecting joins dc3tog over the 3 x 2ch spaces.  Sl st into top of beginning st to close. Fasten off yarn.

NOTE:  From Round 2 you will be working 3sts tog over the 3sts across the Intersecting Joins front and back.   These 3sts are the dc3tog (or on Round 3 the bpdc3tog) and one stitch either side.

Round 2:  Join yarn with a standing BPdc in any dc post on Side Panel.  1BPdc into each dc along both Side Panels.  When reaching the two intersecting joins work bpdc3tog over the 3sts.  Sl st into top of beginning st to close. Fasten off yarn.

Round 3:  Join yarn with a standing dc in any bpdc on Side Panel.  1dc into each dc along both Side Panels.  When reaching the two intersecting joins dc3tog over the 3sts.  Sl st into top of beginning st to close. Fasten off yarn.

Round 4:  Repeat Round 3
Round 5:  Repeat Round 2

Note:  If neck needs to be smaller repeat rounds 3 and 2 until neck is required size then work round 6.
Round 6:  Join yarn with a standing sc in any bpdc on Side Panel.  1sc into each bpdc along both Side Panels.  When reaching the intersecting joins work sc3tog over the 3sts.  Sl st into top of beginning st to close. Fasten off yarn.
